Lv Jianzhong: Director General of Tang West Market Museum in Xi’an

Lv Jianzhong, male, Han nationality, born on October 10, 1963, the board chairman of Xi’an Tang Dynasty West Market Culture Industrial Investment Group, an expert receiving the State Council special allowance and having a master degree of Business Administration in North western University.

He is a member of the 10th, the 11th and the 12th Economic Committee of the CPPCC, a deputy of the 13th, the 14th and the 15th NPC of Xi’an, the vice president of China International Chamber of Commerce, an executive member of National Association of Commerce, a consultant of China Intangible Cultural Heritage Protection Association, the vice president of Shaanxi Commerce Association, the vice president of Shaanxi Chinese Culture Promotion Society, the chairman of Shaanxi Museum Association and the director-general of Xi’an Tang West Market Museum.

Lv Jianzhong has successively obtained the title of the National Prominent Founder in the socialism cause with Chinese Characteristics, The Outstanding Figure of the Chinese Cultural Relics Protection Year, Chinese Cultural Figures, Chinese People of this Year, One of the ten Chinese Outstanding Private Entrepreneur in 2011, “Chinese Gentleman” of Time, the Most Influential People in Shaanxi, one of ten Pioneers in Shaanxi Cultural Industry, Excellent Individual in The Protection of Cultural Relics in Large Construction Projects and the excellent Individual in Xi’an Relics Protection Program.

Tang West Market Culture Industrial Investment Group was established in April 2009 in Xi’an, with a registered capital of RMB 200 million. Now it has net assets of over RMB 30 billion and over 2500 registered employers. It will be able to provide over 30000 employment opportunities after it is fully built. It is a large enterprise centering on development, protection, design and operation of cultural industry. It runs over 10 wholly-owned subsidiaries, the business scope of which ranges from property, exhibition, art business, antique city, business management, performance show, hotel and Tang West Market Museum. The group has become a national model of private cultural industry group.

The Tang West Market project developed by the Group stretches 500 mu with a total investment capital of RMB 8 billion and a building area of 1.35 million square meters. Honored with the titles of National Culture Industry Demonstration Base, National 4A Tourist Attraction, the Industrial Protection Demonstration Base of National Intangible Cultural Relics, National Demonstration Base of Moral Education, and Model of Cultural Heritage Protection and Handing-down in China, it is the only international business tourism culture project based on the original site of Chang’an West Market to promote the culture of the Tang Dynasty and the Silk Road.

The integrated operation mode applied by the Group in relics protection, cultural exhibition and business-travel development is a successful example of Chinese cultural industry in the Non-Public Sectors of the Economy. Its sustainable development mode of “business-driven culture and culture-promoted business” which means the virtuous interaction between cultural cause and cultural industry has drawn a lot of attention from all circles and has been accepted by them. Tang West Market Museum is the first private site museum, the first private Class 2 museum in the country, as well as the first one to contract with nearly 10 museums along the Silk Road. The Group is the first one who takes advantage of innovative and international approach to hold a large cultural interchange activity named ”Colorfully-painted Silk Road ” to display the long march along the Silk Road of Chinese temporary artists. This activity is supposed to be the most influential international cultural interchange activity and sets new records in scale, extension and length of time. Almost 100 famous Chinese artists take participate in this activity and complete 7 Silk Road expeditions organized by the Group four times in a row. 200 masterpieces revolving around the Silk Road Culture displayed in six international exhibitions in Turkey, Beijing, Urumqi, Armenia, Azerbaijan and Georgia. These activities, as a brand activity for our country to interact with foreign cultures, has played a great role in public diplomacy, improving diplomatic soft power of our country and enhancing trust and friendship-building among different countries along the Silk Road.  

At present, governments of Beijing, Shanghai, Taiyuan and Nanchang have developed strategic partnership with this group, among which the Shaanxi Culture City cover an area of 2000 mu and the Jiangxi Culture City measures 3200 mu, with an approximate amount of investment is RMB 40 billion.

In respond to the great strategic concept of “the Silk Road Economic Belt” raised by President Xi Jinping, Xi’an Tang West Market Culture Industrial Investment Group, together with China Council for the Promotion of International Trade, will set up a cooperation platform for over 50 countries along the Silk Road in the field of electronic network trade and cultural tourism through the jointly-developed project of “On-line Silk Road”. The Silk Road Exposition Park including museums in over 50 countries along the Silk Road Economic Belt organizes the “International Silk Road Exhibition” on May 23 annually so as to set up a platform for cultural exchange and trading. This exposition park has promoted the interaction among different politic systems and different nations, the interconnection of road systems, and the free flow and exchange of trade and currencies. The Group, shouldering the dual-mission of passing down the cultural heritage to write a new chapter in the future and developing regional economy, is a strong force to build the “Silk Road Economic Belt”.
